Terry is married to wife Heidi and has seven children. His eldest son, Tyrell, was the 31st selection in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks and is currently in his rookie season.
Terry also formed the Tyshon Terry Foundation in honor of his late son that unexpectedly passed away in 2018. The mission of this initiative is to change inequality and injustice through education of life skills and financial literacy.
Heidi developed her love for basketball in the 3rd grade when her parents asked her if she wanted to sign up for Jr. Bison in her hometown of Buffalo, MN. From there Heidi graduated high school finishing all conference her junior (1999) and senior (2000) year.
She then walked on to NDSU where she met her husband and founder of Mr. Basketball Academy, Tyron Terry, the 2 of them ended up marrying in 2009. They have 7 children together and 8 in all. After NDSU in 2003 Heidi transferred to Concordia University-St. Paul to finish playing where the golden bears made a run at getting into the tournament but lost in the regional championship game to advance to the national tournament for division II athletics.
Through the years Heidi has always been around the game of basketball. She did individual workouts herself as a high schooler which then turned into a job coaching a youth boys basketball team. She was also honored to assist as one of the coaches at a few Gophers camp from connections she made with her AAU program that she played at the spring of her senior year.
Most recently Heidi has been coaching 3 of her daughters in the Elk River community and have been the Senior Trainer at Mr. Basketball Academy for the past 2 years. Heidi has always had a love for the game of basketball and is so grateful to be able to do the thing she loves with her family and make the strong community connections she has been able to with the youth.
Pre-K-12th grade girls. I work with every gender but definitely have a passion for enhancing and developing skills for all age groups. It is just as exciting for me to see kids improve their skills as much as it is for them to see themselves get better! I also have a passion for assisting young coaches that have the same love of the game as I do.
